Covid-19 has shed a harsh light on the urgent need for essential products, especially disinfectants and their supply is falling due to the excess demand. It can be used upon buttons, pens, paper, pencil and personal protective equipment to keep infections from spreading quickly. The pandemic has created a high risk for spreading infections leading to higher death rates. Infective bacteria can move freely in any direction and therefore the use of disinfectant is increasing rapidly. Though there are many disadvantages of using a disinfectant excessively as it can cause severe damage to skin tissues. Therefore, it is recommended to use a disinfectant at a normal rate as overuse can lead to a serious skin condition that cannot be treated. In this pandemic, technology has played a huge role in providing solutions and supplies for those who are not capable of accessing technology and now the plasma science is also achieving great height. We hope it will change the entire format of healthcare community.

Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) have successfully able to show the first flexible, hand held device which is based on a very advanced technology and that technology is ‘low temperature plasma’. It is basically a gas which contains of atoms, molecules,  free floating electrons and mixed ions and also a quick processing technology so that users can use it easily without any complications to disinfect surfaces without any kind of special training and high skills for using it.

According to some few new experiments it is being seen that that the prototype which operates easily at room temperature under very normal conditions of atmosphere and the pressure present at the atmosphere can eliminate 99.99 % of active effectiveness which also includes textiles and heavy metals in just few seconds. When used with the antiseptic hydrogen peroxide the device has been able to show a still higher, that is 99.999 % of effectiveness. It will be similarly effective when it comes in contact with the virus as said by the scientist. Now teams are opening up new possibilities by testing it with human viruses.
