We must have studied in our intermediate or in times of our school that anything which moves have a kinetic energy so scientist turned this idea as a game changer in our environment. Engineers from different domains and scientist turn this wind energy or you can say kinetic energy into electricity and there is a very simple and easy process of doing it. There is only one running turbine which does the whole procedure. The turbine is a big tool in the machinery that channels the power of wind to generate electricity. There is a whole process of generating energy, the wind blows the blades of the turbine and which is attached to a moving rotor and giving a small momentum. The rotor then spins a big generator to create electricity at a very high rate and this whole process is done on a day when the wind blows fast than normal. But now everything is so automated that there is no need to detect the speed of wind manually. Talking about the turbines, there are two types of turbines, horizontal axis wind turbines and vertical axis wind turbines both have different functions and we will know the functioning of both the axis. Basically, the most common types of turbines are horizontal axis turbines. They usually have two or three long, thin blades that is very much similar to the propeller of an airplane. The position of the blades are placed in favor of the wind so that it gets maximum momentum and the speed is always maintained in a way that it moves very fast. The rotation per minute is very much important.

Vertical axis wind turbine (VAWTs) have shooter, wider curved blades that resemble the beaters used in an electric mixer because of their curved shape the resistance power is more and so it is not very pocket friendly. Wind turbines are so big and so they obviously need a huge area to be established and so sometimes it gets very costly for government and also for private organization who takes charge on the project. Individual wind turbines can generate 100 kilowatts of power, enough to power a home. Small wind turbines are also used for places like water pumping stations and for farming purpose because they need a lot of amount of electricity and are not in a condition to pay high taxes. On the other hand larger wind turbines mounted on towers that are as tall as 80 meters and have rotor blades that will go upto approximately 40 meters long in length. These turbines can generate 1.8 megawatts of power which is estimated to run 1 week of electricity in a home. Even larger wind turbines can be found perched on towers that stand 240 meters tall have rotor blades more than 162 meters long which is again a huge set up. These large turbines can generate anywhere from 4.8 to 9.5 megawatts of power and the momentum is of rotors is also very high, The material of these rotors are very light weighted because it needs to move and cover long distance in length and breadth dimensionally.

Wind power is the most reliable source of energy. Environment is not disturbedand it does not contaminate the environment. Energy generated from wind is inexhaustible and reduces the use of fossil fuels, which are the origin of greenhouse gases that causes and increase the level of global warming. It creates wealth and local employment. In the future many employments will come and many families will be able to fulfill their basic needs.
