Recently, ExeGi Pharma LLC which mainly focuses on development and commercialization of biotherapeutic and probiotic medicine announced the launch of their new high potency probiotics Visbiome Vet which is especially designed for the dogs that they can keep up normal inflammatory responses in the gastrointestinal traits (GI Traits). This will help them to maintain their health and normalize their gut health. Visbiome Vet is a combination of eight-strain proprietary probiotics that are studied in the several canine GI disorders. This Visbiome Vet is similar to the human medical food Visbiome that has been the subject of over 60 clinical trials.

According to Dr. Jan Suchodolski, PhD, DACVM at Texas A&M University ‘Gastrointestinal conditions in dogs are connected to the GI bacterial community which is known as gut microbiome and this new solution has the ability to stabilize the gut health of the dog.
Visbiome vet consist of 112.5 billion live bacteria per dosage which is way more than compared to the other veterinary probiotics.
Marc Tewey, CEO of ExeGi Pharma said from past year, they were very happy about the feedback they were receiving from the pet owners after using human Visbiome product with their pets. So, they decided, to create this high potency probiotic formulation Visbiome Vet which is specially created for a veterinary community around the globe.
This new formulation was studied in two different clinical trials by observing several canine GI disorders.
- The first study was done to evaluate that what will be the effect of the Visbiome Vet on the mucosal microbiota in canine idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease. It was observed that the prebiotic increased the protein expression in the dog which proved that this new formulation has very beneficial impact on mucosal microbiota.
- The second study was done to evaluate the impact of Visbiome Vet on mucosal polyamine level in dogs. It was observed that it created an antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory effects in dogs with polyps and inflammation.
This product is only available at veterinarians and veterinary pharmacies and is packed in such a way that they can be used conveniently and to main the high potency of the product it needs to be stored under refrigerated conditions. This formulation is in capsule form and should be provided to the dogs as per their weight and size. The company is planning to create this formulation for other animals like birds, horses, and cats.
