According to the World Health Organization (WHO), statistics 112.5 million blood donations were made worldwide in 2013, with the United States accounting for around half of those donations. In addition, children under the age of five receive up to 65 percent of blood transfusions in developing nations like Bangladesh, India, and China, compared to 75 percent of patients 65 and older in industrialised nations.
