- In November 2024, Avantium (Netherlands) and SCG Chemicals (Thailand) announced a partnership to advance the production of polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) polyester using CO₂ feedstock. This collaboration utilizes Avantium’s Volta Technology to convert CO₂ into glycolic acid, a core component of PLGA, a biodegradable and recyclable polyester. The companies plan to scale up to a 10-tonne per year pilot plant, aiming to boost sustainable material adoption.
