- In April 2023, Shizen Energy Inc. collaborated with Austria-based GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH to install a 2.2 MW Pelton turbine and synchronous generator at the Kuroda Hydroelectric Power Plant in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, owned by Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. This marks GUGLER’s first operational megawatt-class turbine in Japan and reflects ongoing innovation in Japan’s small hydropower sector
- In January 2023, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya inaugurated one of the three units of the 22.5 MW Ganol Hydro Power Project in the West Garo Hills district, adding 7.5 MW to the region’s power grid. With a project value of approximately USD 67 million, this initiative supports the government’s aim to enhance Garo Hills' presence in India’s power landscape
- In December 2022, CH. Karnchang (Lao) Company Ltd. placed an order for electro-mechanical equipment from ANDRITZ for the newly constructed Luang Prabang run-of-river hydropower project in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, strengthening Laos’ commitment to expanding its hydroelectric infrastructure
- In September 2022, GE Renewable Energy’s hydropower division signed a five-year maintenance agreement with Norte Energia for the Belo Monte hydropower plant (11 GW) and its Pimental powerhouse (233 MW) in Brazil. This agreement ensures continuous, corrective, and scheduled maintenance to support energy delivery for up to 60 million people
- In September 2021, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation announced that its subsidiaries—Toshiba Asia Pacific Indonesia (TAPI) and Toshiba Hydro Power (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd.—received a major order to supply four hydro turbines for the Kerinci Merangin Hydroelectric Power Plant located on Sumatra Island, Indonesia. This order represents a strategic contribution to Indonesia’s hydroelectric power generation capacity
