This acquisition enhances ProMach’s global capabilities in flexible packaging, adding HMC’s expertise in manufacturing, refurbishing, and servicing HFFS equipment for industries such as food, cosmetics, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. HMC’s 60,000-square-foot facility in Illinois and its strong aftermarket support will now operate under ProMach’s Systems & Process business unit, further accelerating innovation and delivery for packaging customers worldwide
- In May 2023, Syntegon introduced two models from its new SVX series of vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) machines at interpack 2023, targeting a wide range of food packaging applications. The launch included the SVX Agile, optimized for single-tube applications and adaptable to various bag styles, and the SVX Duplex, which features dual film lanes for higher output. Both machines incorporate a patent-pending cross-seal drive with four independently controlled servo motors, enabling precise control and high-speed performance. - In August 2023, Kiefel GmbH launched the SOLUTIONPERFORMER KFS, a modular form-fill-seal (FFS) machine designed for the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. This advanced system combines bag making, filling, and sealing into a single, streamlined unit, capable of producing up to 6,000 infusion, parenteral nutrition, or dialysis bags per hour. The KFS offers both standardized and customizable configurations, accommodating bag sizes from 50 to 6,000 ml. Key features include precision mass flow meters, residual oxygen control, and automated sealing, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency. Its compact footprint and intuitive interface make it ideal for high-output, cleanroom environments
- In August 2023, Ahlstrom partnered with The Paper People LLC to launch a fully fiber-based, certified recyclable packaging solution for frozen foods. This innovative packaging is designed to replace traditional plastic and fossil-fuel-based films, offering a sustainable alternative that works with existing equipment such as vertical form-fill-seal and stand-up pouch systems. The solution combines Ahlstrom’s PFAS-free FluoroFree® barrier papers with The Paper People’s FDA-approved Paperlock™ G technology, delivering high grease resistance and direct food contact safety. It’s also available with compostable zippers and supports up to 10-color printing, making it both eco-friendly and commercially viable
- In November 2023, Coveris introduced Formpeel P, a recyclable thermoforming film tailored for medical packaging applications, at the COMPAMED trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany. Designed for use with form-fill-seal machines, Formpeel P offers puncture resistance, sterile extraction, and compatibility with ethylene oxide, plasma, and gamma sterilization. It’s available on peelable polyethylene (PE) or polyolefin (PO) bases, and when paired with sustainable lidding films such as Cleerpeel, it provides a fully recyclable solution. This launch reinforces Coveris’s commitment to its “No Waste” strategy, promoting sustainability in specialized healthcare packaging
