“Accelerated R&D and Commercialization Efforts”
- Major South Korean companies like LG Chem, POSCO Chemical, and SKC are intensifying research and development in silicon anode materials, aiming to enhance battery efficiency for electric vehicles (EVs). Daejoo Electronic Materials has successfully commercialized silicon anodes, supplying to LG Energy Solution and planning to expand production capacity significantly by the end of 2024.
- For instance, in November 2024, NEO Battery Materials signed an MOU with Linde Korea to scale up silicon anode manufacturing. The collaboration focuses on optimizing the use of inert gases like nitrogen and argon to enhance production quality and efficiency.
- Silicon anode batteries are well-suited for storing energy from renewable sources, aiding in grid stability and energy management.
