- In January 2024, Medtronic plc acquired CE (Conformité Européenne) Mark clearance for the MiniMed 780G system with Simplera Sync, a disposable continuous glucose monitor (CGM) that eliminates the need for fingersticks or overtape. Simplera Sync improves the user experience with a two-step insertion technique and is half the size of the preceding Medtronic.
- In February 2022, EnSilica launched the ENS62020, an ultra-low-power healthcare sensor interface IC that allows users to monitor important functions in wearable healthcare devices, fitness trackers, and oximeters. Using an extensible IC design, the ENS62020 significantly reduces time to market, enables customization, and provides a product-optimized ASIC.
- In April 2022, Variohm EuroSensor announced a new NTC thermistor that can detect minute temperature changes in the body as well as temperature changes in the surrounding medical environment.
- In November 2022, OmniVision announced the CameraCubeChip package (OH02B) image sensor; it is the first square 2-megapixel, 1500×1500 resolution CMOS image sensor designed for use in disposable endoscopes, catheters, and guide wires. The disposable endoscope market relies on CMOS image sensors due to their high resolution, small size, low heat generation at the scope tip, and low cost for single use.
